As the grand finale to our Season 3 fun tournament, Gathering of Tweakers is hosting a multiclass race with the Riley Daytona Prototype taking it up against the Cadillac CTS-V on the challenging Virginia International Raceway. The 90-minute race, dubbed VIR90 for short, will be held on tuesday October 23rd, which is the first day of week 13.
As said, this race will be part (the Season 3 finale) of our Gathering of Tweakers tournament league. However, it is absolutely no problem to race in just this final race even if you did not participate in any other races of this season! Everyone is welcome to join. Our races are always in a friendly (yet competitive) atmosphere. Setups will be shared and the practice sessions are used to give each other tips and help with setups.
Race details:
Cars: Riley Mkxx Daytona Prototype, Cadillac CTS-V (separate classes)
Track: Virginia International Raceway – Full course
Setups: open (we will share our setups, but sharing is not mandatory)
Start: rolling, gridded by qualification (not by class, as this is impossible in hosted sessions)
Fast repairs: 2
Limited fuel: no
Date: October 23rd, 2012
Race start: 19:00 GMT
Please note that you are required to own the Riley DP car even if you are racing the Cadillac!
Times (in GMT):
Extra open practice: Monday October 22nd: 18:00 – 20:00
Open practice: 16:30 – 18:30 (2 hours)
Qualification: 18:30 – 19:00 (30 minutes)*
Race: 19:00 – 20:30 (90 minutes)
*Qualification will be separate, 15 minutes per class.
Driver count:
There is a maximum of 48 grid stalls which we chose to divide into 24 grid stalls per class.
However, we want to ensure that the race does not turn into a 90 minute hotlapping contest with only 3 drivers left. Therefore, we require a minimum amount of 20 registrations for this race. If there are less than 20 registrations, we don’t think a multiclass race will be much fun, so we will likely drop one car and continue with a single class event. We may also shorten the race. We are hopeful however that we will easily reach 20 drivers
